Thursday, March 27, 2008 If anybody's interested (like anybody still visits this site... :( ), I'm leaving today to go to Sakura Con for the rest of the weekend. As usual, I'll have a small art display at the Art Show for anyone who wants to see a few of my prints. I'll have plenty of photos to post when I get back. Hope to meet you there! - Ferquin, 12:09 PM, P.S.T. Sunday, July 29, 2007 Well, today I've officially turned 30. Not what I expected. I'm not sure I expected the right things. But I had hoped to have accomplish more than I have by now. I have a lot to think about now... - Ferquin, 11:12 PM, P.S.T. Sunday, April 15, 2007 I'm finally finished with my Sakura Con 2007 report! Know who some of these people were, or who they were playing? E-mail me and let me know so I can update my notes. Enjoy! - Ferquin, 11:41 PM, P.S.T. Friday, April 13, 2007 *Yawn* Just finished adding pages 5 and 6 of my Sakura Con '07 extravaganza. More to come tomorrow. Hopefully I can finish the rest this weekend. Another hundred photos left to sift through and edit. Sleepy time... - Ferquin, 12:26 AM, P.S.T. Wednesday, April 11, 2007 Added page four. Sorry about the small update. Got home a little late and I kinda feel ill. More tomorrow though. - Ferquin, 9:47 PM, P.S.T. Tuesday, April 10, 2007 Just added pages 2 and 3 of my Sakura Con '07 pics. Only about 170 more pictures to edit and make pages for... I'll try to get more done tomorrow night. As for now, I need some sleep. - Ferquin, 11:16 PM, P.S.T. Okay, I've got one page of Sakura Con 2007 pics up. I'll be working on this little by little this week. Hopefully, I'll be finished up this weekend. Keep in mind, many links will still be unavailable. I also put up a placeholder page for Sakura Con 2006 pics. I'll work on those after I finish the 2007 ones. Off to sleep. For an hour. Then off to work... Blah. I'm gonna feel like crap at work today... - Ferquin, 4:02 AM, P.S.T. I'm back from the dead! No, not really. I actually wasn't dead. Anyway, I just came back from Sakura Con 2007, and it was awesome. I'll try to get the pics up this week. - Ferquin, 12:01 AM, P.S.T. Monday, August 14, 2006 Big update! The Miscellaneous art section is back from the dead! I've finally got around to putting the page back up, and as a bonus, I've added some new content to it! Well, some of the content isn't completely new. The Sakura Con mascots are there. But still, do check it out! Also, I've added content to my Illustrator page. Lots of old stuff there and slightly newer stuff there. But it's all new to the site since it's never been on here before. Well, except the Kirby one. But still, do check it out! - Ferquin, 7:20 PM, P.S.T. Saturday, August 12, 2006 Actually, here's a better update. I decided to add content to my Photoshop page, so feel free to gawk at my (mediocre) Photoshopping prowess. Also, I added some decriptions to each page so it doesn't look so blank for the empty pages. Yeah, yeah, it'll have actual content in them soon too. Also, in my Contact page, I've added links to the various message boards I haunt. I'm not saying to join them just to get a hold of me, but if you want to discuss stuff I care about, please feel free to join in, but do observe the rules as they are strictly enforced at certain sites. - Ferquin, 6:29 PM, P.S.T. Sort of a big update. Finally got around to plugging up all those holes in my page. No more broken links! I've made empty (not placeholders) pages for all the sections that were missing, so eventually, they'll have content. I've also updated the Music page with stuff. Yay! - Ferquin, 2:47 PM, P.S.T. Wednesday, August 09, 2006 Another small update. I've finally added some links to the Links page. Please go visit these sites. They're cool. Also, I turned 29 on 7/29. Weird. So yeah, happy birthday to me. I've got some time off (read "temporarily laid off") so I may or may not be updating again soon. - Ferquin, 7:18 PM, P.S.T. Friday, July 07, 2006 Not much of an update, but I put up a quickie bio on my "About Me" page. Read it and be enriched. Or be completely oblivious to my very being. Whatever. - Ferquin, 2:20 PM, P.S.T. Tuesday, July 04, 2006 Happy Independence Day, fellow Americans! To the rest of the world, happy July 4th! Either way, don't go blowing yourself up now! - Ferquin, 3:08 PM, P.S.T. Sunday, June 25, 2006 Hope my server hasn't crashed from people accessing the pillows photos. Testing... 1... 2... 3... - Ferquin, 1:35 PM, P.S.T. Just came back from the pillows' show here in Seattle. For the uneducated, the pillows are a Japanese pop rock group, whose music was most famously used for the anime, FLCL ("Fooly Cooly") which was seen on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim a while back. Anyway, since I'd first seen FLCL back in '03, I've been hooked on the pillows' music. They came here last year for their Delicious Bump tour with The Noodles (a female Japanese pop rock band) who are on the same label as the pillows, and had other local acts that performed, including The Stereo Future, of which one of the members was responsible in helping to even get the pillows to play here in Seattle. I still have photos of that concert here for those who are interested, albeit in small amounts and relatively crappy in quality. I'll eventually build a page to house these pics. The pillows once again came and went and rocked hard. They were here promoting their latest album, "MY FOOT", with The Stereo Future fronting the concert. I have many many photos which can be viewed here until I build a proper page for these as well. And hey, maybe the tour will come to your town. Check here to see if you'll be as lucky as I am to see the pillows live. Also, while I was waiting in line, a charming young woman who came all the way from Portland with her boyfriend to see the show requested to have a picture drawn of her and I obliged. She was kind enough to give me a cool thank you note. I gave her my business card so hopefully she's reading this. I never did get her name, but if you are, I just wanted to give you a quick "you're welcome". :) - Ferquin, 1:32 AM, P.S.T. Thursday, March 23, 2006 Hi all! I'll be at Sakura Con this weekend and The Ferquinarium is representin' at the Art Show. Please be sure to check it out if you're there! And maybe, I'll even see you there too! - Ferquin, 12:09 PM, P.S.T. Thursday, February 16, 2006 I suck at the Internet. Or something. Yeah, I know, it's been a really long time since I've updated. I just wanted to take a really long break from art for a while and just kinda refocus. Kinda take stock of life and see what I really want to do. I think I'll start taking a stab at drawing again. Well, I already started at least. I entered another mascot contest for Sakura Con again. Here's my entry for 2007. I won't know until closing ceremonies at Sakura Con this year if I won or not. I really tried this time. I actually have some faith that I didn't suck. If I lose, maybe I'll take another eight month break. *shrug* Hopefully I'll have more stuff to post soon. But of course, take that with a grain of salt. Oh yeah, Happy Fourth of July, Happy Birthday to me (7/29), Happy Labor Day, Happy Halloween, Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Happy Valentine's Day. I think that covers all the holidays I missed acknowledging on here. Yeah. - Ferquin, 1:29 AM, P.S.T. Wednesday, July 06, 2005 Been a while since I updated. (Yeah, I suck.) Got a new piece done for Sakura Con's mascot contest this year. Finished it a couple weeks ago. You can view it here until I get the miscellaneous art section back up. I really need to get back into updates. I'll try to work on more stuff this week since I'm on a "vacation". - Ferquin, 9:55 AM, P.S.T. Friday, May 06, 2005 Wow, I suck. Anyway, I completely forgot that my site turned five years old on May 2nd. I can't believe I've had it up this long. Anyway, yeah. Happy anniversary to the Ferquinarium. - Ferquin, 9:53 AM, P.S.T. Wednesday, May 04, 2005 Not really a site update per se, but I just wanted to drop a line saying I've finally started working at Nintendo of America in the tech service area. Wee! - Ferquin, 4:15 PM, P.S.T. Wednesday, April 27, 2005 I should have noted this last week, but I've finally got my Sakura Con 2005 pics up in the Photos section. No descriptions yet, but please check back later for more updates. Also, on a personal note, I visited Nintendo of America today. It was awesome. Hopefully if things go right, I may be employed there soon. - Ferquin, 6:05 PM, P.S.T. Thursday, April 07, 2005 Hey all! It's that time again! I'm gonna be at Sakura Con again! I'll have a set up (hopefully) in the Art Show. It's gonna be an exciting con this year! Hope to see you all there! - Ferquin, 11:46 PM, P.S.T. Sunday, March 27, 2005 Happy Easter to all! Here's my wallpaper for the rest of the month. Hope you like it. - Ferquin, 4:48 PM, P.S.T. Thursday, March 24, 2005 Oh man. Tonight just totally kicked ass! About a couple hours ago, I came home from the most awesome concert ever! I watched the pillows live on stage at the Crocodile Cafe in Seattle and man, that was the best show I've ever seen! In fact, it's the only rock show I've ever seen. See, tonight was really the first time I've ever been to a rock concert. And boy, what a blast it was! Luckily, I took photos! Temporarily, you can view them here until I can thumbnail and set up a proper page for the pics in my Photos section. In hindsight, I really should have taken higher-quality pics. I mean, I just got myself a new 128 MB SmartMedia card. I'm such a dolt. Ah well, it was awesome being there anyway. I was literally only ten feet away from the stage. Which is lucky 'cause my camera doesn't have a zoom. Anyway, this thing really rocked. Big props to Nick of The Stereo Future and Beat2Beat Music for helping get the pillows and The Noodles (who also kicked ass; bought their CD) here in Seattle. Here's hoping they can come back again for another show! - Ferquin, 3:23 AM, P.S.T. Wednesday, March 09, 2005 ![]() Woo hoo! My site's finally hit the five-figure hit mark! 10,000! Thanks to all who've visited the site in the nearly five years it's been up. (Wow, has it really been that long?) Anyway, wow! What a milestone! Well, to be honest, a lot of those hits were really from me 'cause it's my homepage whenever I log on to the Internet. But I only started actually counting from about 2002 on, so I've really got a lot more than 10,000 hits. But at least now, I have it on record. Thanks again to all who've contributed and have visited! Also, I forgot to mention my small updates. As you can see, I've updated the background for March with a nice four-leaf clover motif. Hopefully it will bring super good luck for all! I have also broken up the Sketchbook into smaller pages of fifty thumbnails each. Hopefully, that will reduce the load time. I will try to fix that. I may eventually make the commentary into just popups instead of it going to new pages. I notice that for some reason, if you click on the thumbnails and open up the actual art file, it causes the thumbnails to reload completely when you click back to the grouped thumbnail pages. I'll be experimenting with this later. Also, on a personal note, I am having a really awesome time game testing this week and next at Arena.net, a local gaming company founded by three ex-Blizzard employees (WarCraft, StarCraft, etc.). I wish I could keep this as a full-time job, but alas, it is only temporary. At least I'll make some extra bucks. 'Cause man, I'm broke. Unemployment sucks. Someone please hire me. :( - Ferquin, 12:12 AM, P.S.T. Wednesday, February 16, 2005 Okay, huge update. I've updated all the navigation menus for nearly all the pages, and recoded almost all of them. I've added in the Photoshop page, the About Me page, and the Links pages. Of course, for now, they are only placeholders until I finish recoding the rest of the site. Then I will start adding new content. Also, check out the Sketchbook again, even if you already have. I've updated all 185 pieces with their own pages and notes. Now you can see the method behind the madness. Let me know if you experience long load times. I'm still sort of tweaking my pop up format. Also, I'm toying with the idea of chopping up the Sketchbook into smaller pieces. Even on my cable modem, I'm experiencing a bit of lag just from loading the thumbnails - all 185 of them. I tried shrinking the file sizes for them to the ultimate lowest setting, but it still takes too long. That or make more pop ups so that you don't have to reload the Sketchbook page. Anyway, that's all for now. I'm going to bed. - Ferquin, 1:25 AM, P.S.T. Monday, February 14, 2005 Happy Valentine's Day! As you can see, I've made a few changes. Lots of construction coming up. I'm currently recoding the whole site. What you see will be the template, except for the hearts, of course. Speaking of which, I'm gonna try to make an effort to make at least the updates page more theme-friendly, as in, I'm gonna try to change it at least once a month to reflect the season. For February, for example, I'll have these hearts. Anyway, don't worry about the dead links on the navigation. I'll try to have placeholder pages up for those ASAP. 'Til then, you'll run into my angry server sprite. Back to work... - Ferquin, 9:09 PM, P.S.T. Saturday, February 12, 2005 Yeah yeah, I know. I suck. I'm working on the update. Not gonna be a real huge update. Mostly, I'm tweaking my code. I may change graphics here and there, and add new pages. It'll be up soon. ... Oh, hey! Nearly 10,000 hits. Amazing. Well, not really. Every time I log on to the Internet, my page is the first one. So it's probably mostly me growing those hits. Soon! My site will be updated. Honest! - Ferquin, 11:19 AM, P.S.T. Tuesday, November 09, 2004 It's been a while since I've updated. I think I've finally gotten over my self-hate. For now. I've been kinda down about my art since I lost that mascot contest at the sakuracon.org site. I've just been over-critical of my work or how others would see me. I dunno. I think that I can start drawing again. Soon. In the mean time, I think I might start redesigning the site again. I've learned some new stuff from my job (although I'd still rather be working at Nintendo, but I digress...) and I think I can apply it to my own site. Special thanks to some of the fine folks at Penciljack forum for helping to cheer me up. - Ferquin, 6:27 PM, P.S.T. Wednesday, September 01, 2004 Finally! A new update! Yeah. Anyway, I uploaded a ton of new sketches that I've done since April. Well, not really a ton, but there's a lot. Go have a look, won't you? Also, Sakura Con has a contest going on for a new mascot. Guess what? I entered. Here's my entry. I'm rather proud of it. I've been working pretty much non-stop for the past week trying to beat the deadline, which happens to be today. I tried a few new things in coloring it. I'm actually quite happy with the results. Do have a look. On a personal note, I've finally found a job. I work here as an intern. I made all their Olympus digital camera pages. Now I'm working on portable DVD players. It don't pay much yet, but hopefully that'll change. Be ready for pop-ups. And hey, maybe buy something, preferrably with a warranty. It'll make my supervisor happy. - Ferquin, 2:20 AM, P.S.T. Sunday, August 01, 2004 Blah. The site's been down for a couple weeks. Sorry. Apparently my server had some major hardware failure. It's only now just coming back online. Well, at least my stuff is at least. I certainly hope anybody new who's been trying to visit aren't completely convinced I'm an ass. Please come back if you did. - Ferquin, 5:33 PM, P.S.T. Saturday, May 08, 2004 Well, I've finally finished making the pages for my Sakura Con '04 write-up. It's all there, with thumbnails. Links to all 411 photos. Yup. No notes yet though. I'll tackle that in small chunks. Keep checking back for that. Otherwise, you can go look at the pics now. No having to go into the folder directory anymore. I'm gonna fix that too. - Ferquin, 10:37 PM, P.S.T. Well, I finished thumbnailing them and the thumbs are now online. Yeah. Big deal. I'm workin' on the pages, don't worry. Just got stuff to do that keeps me from working on my site. I will have pages up soon! Honest. - Ferquin, 1:12 AM, P.S.T. Sunday, May 02, 2004 Sorry 'bout the lack of updates! I was hoping to have all the pictures from Sakura Con '04 done soon, but stuff happens during the week. Anyway, all of my photos are now online, but again, only on the server. You can go here and look directly in my server's directory to see all the photos for now. I'm in the process of thumbnailing them all and then I'll divide them all up into pages. And let me tell ya, I have just a hair over 400 photos. That's more than double the amount I took last year! I'm sure glad it's all digital. I'd be spending a fortune on development fees if it were the old way. Nonetheless, give 'em all a look and see if you can identify everyone for me. - Ferquin, 5:05 PM, P.S.T. |
