Day One - Odds and Ends and some Karaoke
|
To begin with, here's some shots that I took late Friday evening starting around the karaoke
open mic which lasted into the wee hours of Saturday morning.
Here's a picture of my friends, Ahna and Theo, at Karaoke night. They ran it all night 'til 5 a.m.
Amazingly, they were still able to run the dance the next evening as well, which also ran into the wee hours
of the morning. They're probably catching up on sleep now. I know Theo's dressed up as someone
from Patlabor. I just don't know who. (Sorry, Theo!) I am also told that Anna is dressed as
"Mana" from a J-Pop group called "Malice Mizer". I guess I'll have to ask her in person next time I
bump into her. Good job on Karaoke, guys!
Here are Hayley and John in their costumes. Hayley was really great
with her Team Rocket friends at Karaoke Friday night. John is one of about three Ryougas
(from Ranma½) I saw this weekend. Hayley is dressed as a female Rocket Grunt from the
Pokémon games, but is also a Meowth.
Here are Rebecca and Carmen dressed as Team Rocket from Pokémon. They were the ones I
mentioned that were really cool at Karaoke night. They also had the best Team Rocket costumes I've ever
seen! They will be showing up again in my notes 'cause they had other really cool costumes over the
weekend.
Here's a picture of some very late night fun at Karaoke night. This was taken some time around midnight.
I just didn't have the stamina that night to stay up any later than around 1:30 a.m. But these
guys sure did. Like I said, this thing lasted 'til five in the morning!

Day Two - Panel Hopping and Wandering
|
I spent much of the morning going to panels and just wandering the hotel snapping photos. I was really
surprised at how open people are to getting their pictures taken. Luckily for me, I got lots of good
shots.
Here is Rin at the Fan Artist panel. Her work is amazing! Very professional stuff!
She was really shy about it, but man! Very, very cool!
Here, she's dressed as a female version of Vash the Stampede from Trigun.
Here's Erik Madsen dressed up as Vash the Stampede from Trigun. Erik Madsen was one of four
Vashes I saw this weekend. Vash is a real popular guy to dress up as.
Here is Crystal dressed up as Selphie from the game Final Fantasy VIII. Those nunchukus are
pretty cool!
Here's Kat dressed up as Rei from Neon Genesis Evangelion, one of my all-time favorite anime.
Nice attention to detail on the plug suit. I'm not sure if she noticed I took her picture. No idea
who the guy behind her is though.
Here's this guy I just called "Eat Man" 'cause he's dressed as Bolt Crank from this weird anime called
Eat Man, but I couldn't remember his name. Every time I saw him, I just said, "Hey, Eat Man!
Wassup!" He's a con staffer though and I think he had an entry in the music video contest.
Here's Adrianne Grady dressed up as Ryoko from Tenchi Muyo! Man, she had the best
Ryoko costume I've ever seen! The hair was just too cool! I'm so glad I got this pic 'cause I just
wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it in person! Even my sister was impressed!
She tells me that she was also in Cosplay as Cecilia the Elf from Those Who Hunt Elves. I wish I
had gotten better seats to photograph that. The sketch she was in was hilarious!
Here's April dressed as Ukyou from Ranma½. She's in the same group with
Hayley from the TR Meowth (dressed here as girl Ranma) and Ryouga (same guy) pic
earlier, and also Rebecca and Carmen. Excellent costumes!
Here's Sara-Jane dressed up as Dende and Kenny dressed as Trunks. Also pictured in back are Katie as
Mrs. Trunks, Bulma's mother, and Andy, dressed as Vegeta. All are of course, from Dragonball Z.
Here's Raissa dressed as Chun-Li from Street Fighter. I'm surprised there weren't more Chun-Lis
running around. There's no such thing as too many Chun-Lis. The world needs more of them. The
spiked wristband industry must be booming.
Here's Alicia dressed up as Sailor Moon from Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon. Man, there were waaaay
more Sailor Soldiers running around than I thought was ever conceivable. She's one of, oh hell...
countless Sailor Moons that were at the con. Sorry this pic is blurry.
Hey, it's Theo, again! This time he's in a SeeD uniform from Final Fantasy VIII. Looks
like he's still groggy from hosting open mike Karaoke. He was up 'til 5 a.m. after all!
Here's "Chevi-chan" dressed up as Tifa from the game Final Fantasy VII. Neat costume!
I snapped this one as I was walking down the halls of the hotel. She also is a fan artist.
Here's [insert name here] dressed up as Android 17 from Dragonball Z. Neat pose and neat
costume.
Here's [insert name here] dressed up as Hikari Horaki from Neon Genesis Evangelion.
A nice change of pace from the usual Reis or Asukas you'd usually run into. Actually, now that I think
about it, I didn't run in to any Asukas at all that weekend! No Shinjis either. I did see a few
Gendos though, but I didn't get their pictures. Darn.
Here's Amanda and Roxanne dressed as Sailor Moon Eternal and Galaxia from
Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon - Super Stars. Man! These are some very well made costumes! You can
tell that a lot of work went into these costumes. Very eyecatching! Galaxia was pretty funny at
cosplay.
Here's [insert name here] dressed up as Dr. Hidezaburo Kitaguchi from Irresponsible Captain
Tylor. His costume is totally accurate, down to the bottle of sake and beard! Kind of an obscure
character, but cool nonetheless.
