Day Two - Afternoon Wanderings
|
Here's a bunch of photos I took around Saturday afternoon while sitting around in the hotel
lobby while waiting around between events. Lots of people came through there or were hanging
around. It was the perfect place to catch costumers on film (or in this case, digital flash media).
This is "YamaChan" holding his favorite little Umi doll. He is dressed as Ascot from Magic
Knights Rayearth. All the girls seemed to be following him around to play with his hat.
Here is [insert name here] dressed as Lina Inverse from The Slayers. There was actually
quite a few Linas running around, but that's pretty normal
Here is [insert name here] dressed as Zelgadis from The Slayers. Pretty cool job with the
golem skin!
Here's Kirstin dressed as Sailor Jupiter from Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon. I'm
gonna go out and say that Jupiter is my favorite sailor (well, actually it's a tie between
Jupiter and Venus). This costume was pretty good.
Here is Venessa dressed as Kamatari Honzo, Shishi-O's androgynous henchman from
Rurouni Kenshin. I was really impressed with this costume! It was totally down with the
details, even the sickle blade that he uses! Awwww, look at the little Shishi-O dolly!
Here's little [insert name here] dressed as Momoko from Wedding Peach.
Cool parents let their kids do cosplay.
Here is [insert name here] as another Rei from Neon Genesis Evangelion that I saw running around
at the con. (I thought Dr. Akagi killed all the clones!) Very nice work with the plug suit. I wish I
had snapped her with the transmitters on her head.
Here is Caroline dressed as Megumi from Rurouni Kenshin. Quite a few
people dressed as Rurouni Kenshin characters this year. I'm glad that Rurouni
Kenshin is becoming more popular. It really is a great anime. One of my favorites.
Hey look! It's Carmen and Rebecca again! Friday they were Team Rocket. Today they are Chi-Chi and
Bulma from Dragonball Z! Aren't their costumes just gorgeous? We'll be seeing more from these
two!
Here are Chris Norman and Erik Turner dressed as King Cashew and Orson from the Record of Lodoss
Wars series. Erik tells me that it took 150 hours of work and lots of fiberglass to make the
costume. Very impressive work, I must say! Well worth the effort!
Here are a trio of cosplayers. From left to right, we have Darla dressed as Chocolate from Sorcerer
Hunters, Mandy dressed as Minami Revolutionary Girl Utena, and Shauna as Sharon Apple
from Macross Plus. Very cool costumes! Special thanks to the numerous people who e-mailed me
the names for this trio!
Here's [insert name here] and [insert name here] dressed as Skuld and Urd from Oh My Goddess!.
I like that hammer!
Here's [insert name here] dressed as Vash from Trigun. Vash is fast becoming a perennial
favorite at anime cons. This guy has got a really cool gun!
Here is [insert name here] and [insert name here] dressed as Lagato and Wolfwood from Trigun.
Here's my friend, Erin Durdy, dressed as everybody's favorite former-assasin, Kenshin, from
Rurouni Kenshin.
Aaaawwwww! There's nothing else you could say here. For a little kid, she sure kicked ass at cosplay!
I wish I could get stuff for being cute...
Sometime around Saturday afternoon, it started pouring like crazy. Lots of people were outside. The
wind was really strong. Needless to say, it was pretty funny watching everybody scatter. I just
had to take this picture.
Here's Charlotte dressed as Yurika from Martian Successor Nadesico. I will never forget
that question at the game show about what to do if you were to play against Yurika in a game of "Paper-Rock-Scissors".
That was just too clever!
Oh, and the answer is, always use "rock". Don't worry. You'll get it. Just look at the picture.
Here's [insert name here] dressed as Sanosuke from Rurouni Kenshin. My friend, Mel, had a booth
set up in the dealer room for her "Faerie Fingers"
costume designs. My pal, Dan, bought a Sano outfit. Looks like he wasn't the only one. Well, I don't
really know if this guy actually bought his costume from Mel, but I'm pretty sure Mel is making a
killing from her costumes. I ran into a lot of people wearing her designs.
Here's [insert name here] dressed as Master Clef from Magic Knights Rayearth. I'm just sooo
impressed with the detail and work that went into Clef's staff. It's just too real! I'm almost
convinced that there's some sort of "Cosplay Warehouse" around here that sells nothing but cosplay
accessories and supplies. I know that Mel made this costume too.
