Later in the evening I caught the beginning of open-mike karaoke. Nothing much was happening though
'cause the actual karaoke contest was over and that's when all the action was. It was pretty late and
I didn't feel like sleeping yet so I poked my head around there for a couple hours.
This is just so scary! This has to be the most dead-on exact look-alike of Asuka I've ever seen. It's
life imitating art! She's the right build, has naturally red hair, etc. Right down to the yellow sun
dress. It's almost creepy. She is Asuka as far as I'm concerned. (I wonder if she's fluent in
German and Japanese?) Anyways, kudos to [insert name here] for the ultra-fantastic job. Cool Kaji
doll! The perfect accessory for this costume!
I swear, I must find the place that distributes these gigantic Gunblades. There has to be a Gunblade
clearing warehouse somewhere because every year, I keep seeing all these Squalls (from the Final
Fantasy VIII game) with their fantasticly rendered Gunblades. Here's Curtis Chin with the Gunblade
in hand.
Here's another shot from Karaoke. I really wish I had gotten in earlier. By the time I got
there, around 11 p.m., it was pretty dead. I ran into one of my co-workers there, Elizabeth Stockwell.
She was dressed as that blonde dude in black from Gundam Wing. No pic though, sorry. The girl
at the mic is [insert name here] playing Mima from the movie Perfect Blue.
Here's Ahna and Theo, who's cross-playing once again, don't know what character though... Ahna and Theo
were once again in charge of open-mike karaoke. But man, were they busy! I'm lucky I even got to take
their pic. I'm tellin' ya, Theo makes a really good girl. ^o^
Here's [insert name here] playing Misao from Rurouni Kenshin. An excellent Misao costume. Looks
like one of Meldandy's designs.

Day Two - Panel Hopping and Wandering
|
Saturday was busy as hell! Tons of con-goers and many of them dressed to the nines in elaborate costumes.
Needless to say, I had my hands full going to panels and snapping so many cosplayers as I traversed the
hotel. This is ultimately a small sampling of the good costumes I saw. Wait 'til later. Definitely
lots of good ones coming up.
These would have to be the prettiest Vash and Wolfwoods (from Trigun) at the con, the rest
being all male. The con this year was completely overrun by Vash clones. It probably had something to
do with the fact that Johnny Yong Bosch was around. He's the first Red Power Ranger and does the English
dub voice for Vash. Here, Vash and Wolfwood are played by Mandy and Shawna.
Here's another pair of cosplayers, [insert name here] and [insert name here] playing Rabi~en~Rose from
Digi Charat and Mei-Ling from Card Captor Sakura.
Here's [insert name here] playing one of the various Sakuras (from Card Captor Sakura), and [insert
name here] with a very lavish costume from some anime I've never seen. This pair got a lot of photos
taken of them.
Here's Hayley who played the Team Rocket Meowth from last year. Here, she's wearing a wonderful Miaka
(from Fushigi Yuugi) costume.
I just wanted to take a picture of the wonderful lobby at the Hilton. Man, that place is comfy. Good
thing we're coming back next year!
Here's [insert name here] playing (I'm guessing here) Cloud from the game Final Fantasy VII.
Excellent costume, and nice use of pie tins on the shoulders. Cool sword too.
This pic is had to be brightened so it looks washed out.
It's a volley of Vashes! The two on the left were everywhere. They were almost like identical twins!
They got tons of pics taken of them. Too bad I don't have everybody's names.
Here's [insert name here] and Alicia playing [insert character name] and another Sakura from Card
Captor Sakura. Alicia was seen last year as a really cool Sailor Moon.
Here's Jacqueline dressed as Mima from the movie, Perfect Blue. Cool dress! I
saw her and her friends a lot near the hotel restaurant. (Special thanks to Rebecca Schwartz for the info.)
Cool! Another Link, and this time female. I also happened to see someone dressed as Princess
Zelda, but I missed out on taking her pic. X( Maybe next year...
This one was kind of a cute human interest photo. Cons can be tiring. I saw this couple near the
elevators in the convention center and just thought I'd capture the scene. This would be Alysa
(dressed as Luna from the Lunar games) resting from a headache on the lap of her friend, Nick
(who was dressed as Alex, also from Lunar) seen here sans-costume. I actually didn't expect to
identify these two, but Alysa actually responded and identified herself. I have a better shot of her in
costume later.
Here is [insert name here] playing (I'm told) Noir from the anime of the same name. Actually, I
originally mistook her for playing Misato from Evangelion. I'll have to check out Noir
sometime...

Day Two - Waiting for Cosplay
|
The line for cosplay started really early and, since I had nothing better to do and the line was relatively
short, I waited around and took many nice pics of cosplayers.
YOU CANNOT MISTAKE THIS! It is the leader of the Autobots himself, Optimus Prime! Woo hoo! Can't beat
a good TransFormer cosplayer! I'm glad TF is coming back.
Here's another shot of Optimus. I wish I knew who was in the costume so I can give proper credit. It's
really a cool get-up.
Here's [insert name here] and [insert name here] playing [insert character name] from [insert anime name]
and Kaoru from Rurouni Kenshin.
This is [insert name here] playing another Rabi~en~Rose from Digi Charat. I caught her at the
Artists' alley. She had a table set up with a real animator's table. I wish I had one... Here, she's
pictured with [insert name here] dressed as Folken from Vision of Escaflowne.
Here's another pic I snapped while in line for cosplay. Here's [insert name here] as Kagome from
Inuyasha and [insert name here] as a Final Fantasy moogle. She was recording people's
"con saves".
I just had to take a picture of [insert name here]'s pipe bazooka. She's playing Iris from Sakura
Wars.
Here's Jimmy playing Celestin from the Oh! My Goddess movie. He's also been seen in his really
cool Tenchi Muyo! costumes, designed by Meldandy.
This is [insert name here] playing Nanaka from Mahou Tsukai Tai. Really nice job with the
costume here.
Pictured here is Lulu from the Final Fantasy X game, played by [insert name here]. I hope I'm
right - it appears that she's holding a homemade Pikmin doll! Wee! Pikmin! I wish Nintendo really
did make Pikmin dolls. This pic is kinda funny 'cause Lulu usually has moogles around her.
Here's [insert name here] playing Dejiko from Digi Charat. I'm always amazed at how well these
Digi Charat costumes turn out. Makes me want to see the anime!
Here's [insert name here] playing yet another Yuna from the Final Fantasy X game. Man, there's
so many Yunas...
Aw, poor Gabe. He was the Convention Chair this year. Boy, did he have his work cut out for him! He
and Erin were running around like crazy. I hope they managed to enjoy the con as well as keep it
running. He always had this "I've-only-had-two-hours'-sleep" look on his face whenever I ran into him.
Here he's dressed as Clow Reed from Card Captor Sakura.
This is the only good pic from cosplay that I have. Last year, they had the magnificent Gundam battle.
This year, this group brings us the massively larger-than-life Vision of Escaflowne dragon mech,
with a tiny Van Fanel riding on top. They had it displayed in the lobby, but I missed out on getting a
better shot to go to the Anime Music Video contest. This is my only photo of this magnificent float.
