Day Three - Killing Time Until Closing Ceremonies
|
After the fashion show, I wandered around a bit, going to panels, checking the Dealer Room for bargains, and
just killing time until Closing Ceremonies and the end of the con. I was also trying to get as many
last-minute cosplayer pics.
Here's [insert name here] as [insert character name] from [insert anime name]. Excellent attention
to detail!
Here's [insert name here] and [insert name here] as Ukyou and Female Ranma from Ranma½.
The did a really great job on their costumes, right down to the kanji-print on Ukyou's clothes!
Here is [insert name here] as Belldandy from Oh! My Goddess!. Very well made costume!
Remember this pic from
Saturday? Here's that better shot of Alysa as Luna (from the Lunar games) that I was
telling you about.
Cool! A Speed Racer cosplayer! You don't see that much nowadays! Here's Speed played by
[insert name here].
Hey! It's April and Hayley as Team Rocket grunts from Pokémon! Last year, Hayley wore
the Meowth Rocket costume. Now it's April's turn. Really great costumes!
Here's [insert name here] again as Asuka from Neon Genesis Evangelion. Yeah, I shot her pic
earlier. But she just happened to be there while I was waiting for Closing Ceremonies and she's just got
just the perfect Asuka costume. I just had to snap it again!
Here's Black Lady, Chibi-Usa's evil form from Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon R. Really cool job on
the costume!
Well, here's Carmen and Rebecca again reprising their excellent costumed roles as Jessie and James of
Team Rocket from Pokémon. Oh, and there's April and Hayley in their Rocket Grunt outfits too!
Honestly, they're the best Team Rocket cosplayers I've ever seen and this is one of their best photos.
Here's a closer shot of Carmen and Rebecca. Again, wonderful costumes!
Here's [insert name here] as Daughter from Sorcerer Hunters. She did some great
poses in the Fashion Show.
Once again, here's Chris Vance as Akuma from the Street Fighter games. Man, is he limber.
He's a beefy dude and can do the splits. Amazing!
Awesome! It's Lupin III himself! Not many people do Lupin III cosplay. Awesome work on
the costume! He even cut his hair short! Here's he's played by [insert name here].
Here we have [insert name here] and [insert name here] as [insert character name] and [insert
character name] from [insert anime name].
Cool! It's [insert character name] from Trigun! Here she's portrayed by [insert name here].
Nice costume. Even got all the guns! Very cool!
Dude! This is the coolest Mousse costume ever! Totally got very detail down! Mousse is one of my
favorite characters rom Ranma½! Here, he's played by [insert name here].
[insert name here] and [insert name here] are playing [insert character name] from [insert anime
name] and [insert character name] from [insert anime name].
Another exceptional costume! It's Shampoo from Ranma½! Here she's played by [insert
name here]. She should get together with that other guy playing Mousse! Totally perfect! (Sorry,
sis! She makes a better Shampoo than you!)

Day Three - Closing Ceremonies
|
Well, here's Closing Ceremonies. By the time I got in, I was tired and I didn't really have anymore
space left on my camera so here are the last few shots I was able to take. It was great watching the
taiko drumming. I'd never seen it before and it's really an experience you have to see and hear in person.
You can really feel the beats!
This is a really funny story. After we all got into Closing Ceremonies, there was this really long
wait until the show actually started. Just as crazy as Opening Ceremonies was, something weird happened.
Someone was blowing bubbles and they had built into a big clump. These bubbles must've been real tough.
They were bounced around in the audience and it really got everyone's attention. We were all scrambling
around trying to keep the bubbles up in the air by bouncing them or simply blowing on them. This went
on for a good twenty minutes. This is a shot of the bubbles floating for a bit.
Here's the last dude that managed to keep the bubbles up before the MC had to quiet everyone down and get
the show started. I think the bubbles settled on someone and eventually burst. Bored people are so
easy to entertain.
I apologize for not remembering the name of the taiko drumming group. Regardless, they were excellent
and the show was really fun to experience. This is my best shot of them in action.
Here's another shot of them. I think they're switching drums around. They did that frequently for
each piece.
Here's a final shot of them bowing before the audience. And thus concluded Closing Ceremonies and
Sakura Con 2002.
Well, here ends another Sakura Con! Hope you enjoyed my little travelogue. Once again, a big thank you
to the AV folks for using my photos from last year for the Five Year Retrospect video. Also, a great
big thank you to all of you who were kind enough to pose for my camera. Finally another thank you
to all who submitted info to fill in the credits.
See you all again next year at Sakura Con 2003! Here's to another five years and many more beyond!
