Day One - Waiting for Opening Ceremonies
|
Well, it seems that Sakura Con's just growin' and growin'! There's more people here that there were
last year on the first day! It's amazing how popular this con's become. The wait for Opening Ceremonies
was kinda long. To pass the time, I snapped a few pics.
My first cosplay pic for this year's con will be of [insert name here] as (correct me if I'm wrong) that
one character with the whip in the King of Fighters games. Her name escapes me. Nonetheless,
excellent costume!
Ah, it's my pal, Theo Hua dressed as [insert character name] from [insert anime name] and his friend,
[insert name here] dressed as [insert character name] from [insert anime name]. Theo will be DJ-ing
the dance once again with Ahna Blake. They're the best DJs!
Well, it's everybody's favorite Final Fantasy VIII couple, Squall Leonheart and Rinoa Heartilly.
I think this was taken as I was walking into the Opening Ceremonies room. Here, they're played by
[insert name here] and [insert name here].
Oh my God! It's the smallest Belldandy ever! Get it? "Oh my God!"? Oh! My Goddess?! Yeah,
bad joke. Cute costume though!
This is a slightly blurry pic of Haruno Sakura from the anime Naruto. She also has a mini-plushie
of Sasuke (also from Naruto).
Here she's played by [insert name here].
Cool! It's No Face from Spirited Away! I saw quite a few of these guys (or girls, it's hard to
tell in those costumes) at the con. I'm always impressed at these costumes because they're so simple, yet
so totally accurate! If you can actually identify who's in this costume, you're a better person than
I.
Here's [insert name here] playing Nabeshin from Excel Saga. Nice 'fro!
Bearing his claws here is Inuyasha (from the anime of the same name), played here by [insert name here].
This is kind of an odd pairing. Sesshoumaru from Inuyasha and Misao from Rurouni Kenshin?
Maybe Sesshoumaru is gonna sick the Oniwabanshu on Inuyasha. Anyway, they're played by [insert name
here] and [insert name here].
BOSS! It's Proto Man (or in Japan, "Blues") from the classic Mega Man (or in Japan, "Rock Man") games!
I love those classic Mega Man games! It's a pleasant surprise to see someone cosplaying as a Mega Man
character. Proto Man is played by [insert name here].
I swear to God this isn't doctored in any way. I really did catch Chris Vance here in mid-blink.
Totally adds to the effect. I'm rather proud of this photo. Here he's flexing his evil aura
as Akuma from the Street Fighter games.
Yuna is back again with a new look and a new game, Final Fantasy X-2. Here, she's played by
[insert name here]. Last year, we were overrun with the old Yuna. Looks like the reign of terror
continues with the new version.
Here's Card Captor Sakura with a safely contained Clow Card. Here she's played by [insert name here].
Watch out for the Tonberry! It's got a knife! Ever since they showed up in Final Fantasy VII,
they've become just as popular as Moogles and Cactuars. It's weird. Anybody know who's playing the
Tonberry? If you do, let me know.
It's Rabi~en~Rose from Digi Charat! Like other rabbits, she multiplied a lot. Here she's played
by [insert name here].
Here's "Sailor Naboo" as what she calls a "generic goth lolita". Interesting idea for a costume!
It's the return of the dark Vash (from Trigun)! Once again, masterfully portrayed by
[insert name here]. Damn, that's a cool outfit! He even did his hair like Vash!
Cool! A Moogle! And it want's me to save my game! Kupo indeed! Totally kick-ass costume! Big
props to [insert name here] for such great work!
Here's [insert name here] and [insert name here] playing Nanaka Nakatomi and Sae Sawanoguchi, both
from Mahou Tsukai Tai! (a.k.a. Magic User's Club). Excellent job on the costumes! I love
their wands!
