| Day Zero - Pickin' Up Badges |
I can hardly believe it's already been a year! This time, I'm starting the picture-taking early. Thanks to being currently unemployed, this is the first time I've come down the night before the con starts to pick up my badge. It's a little weird. Like the calm before the storm. Anyway, I also came down to set up my stuff for the art show. Didn't do it last year, but I did for the first time the year before in '02. This'll be my second time. I planned it better, and I'm actually gonna sell a few things to see if anybody likes my crap.
In any case, I whipped out the camera and snapped a few shots.
Here's your first look at SC'04! Here's the ol' conference center, and people are picking up their
con bags and badges.
A little further down the hallway... That dude over on the right near the cups was trying to hide.
He asked why I was taking pictures. I said I was capturing the moment.
Here's a bit of a gathering near the badge pickup area. I'm sure lots of people were planning to meet
up the night before. As I walked through the halls, it was already full of staff running around
setting up stuff.
Here's the badge pickup area. It wasn't as busy as I thought it would be. I guess most people will
just be here Friday. Mighty convenient though for us who live in the area.
Goodie! My first cosplayers! Here's [insert name here] dressed as [insert character name] from
[insert anime name] and [insert name here] dressed as Seifer from Final Fantasy VIII.
Here's some folks from the Sakura Con Message Boards. I'm sorry I didn't get everybody's names. The
second one from the left (if I heard correctly) is "Anime Matrix". You MB folks will have to clarify this
for me later after the con and identify the others.

Here's Opening Ceremonies. I actually had more pics at the beginning, but me being a dumbass accidentally deleted everything from earlier in the morning so I had to start over. I had some really good pics too. :( Oh well, I've more than made up for it, because Opening Ceremonies was cool as you can probably guess from the pics. Towards the end, there was this amazing live performance where this girl tamed a dragon with a hammer, and that hammer was used to ring in a bell to officially start the con! I hope they do something cool like this next year.
Here's the projector screen with a cool starburst thing on it. Yeah, I was bored.
Here's a shot of the waiting audience. Way more crowded this year. Past Opening Ceremonies weren't nearly as packed.
