After the Fashion Show, I rushed to my car to get some fresh batteries. I was also determined to get a good spot for Closing Ceremonies and since there wasn't anything else going on that I wanted to go to, I decided to start the line for Closing Ceremonies myself. I pulled up a chair near the entrance and basically camped out for a few hours. Eventually, I was joined by a few others in my new line so I was able to move about to run errands while they watched my spot. I took the time to take care of things like dismantling my Art Show display and moving my luggage to my car, and moving my car to a more accessible parking spot for easier getaway after the con ends. It was by this time that it had dawned on me that I completely forgot to check out my room. I rushed to the front desk but to no avail. It was a couple hours after checkout and I was stuck with a stiff late checkout fee. I head back to my line to find that it had grown considerably. I took back my spot at the beginning of the line. In the mean time, I snapped some more pics as I wait for Closing Ceremonies.
I finally get in to Closing Ceremonies, proud of the fact that I'm first in line. Unfortunately that would be my undoing. I got practically front row seats (behind the staff and guests), yet I still get seated at the far right edge from the stage, once again without a good view from my camera. We were once again treated to a final performance from Mark Nguyen and The 404s which brightened up my mood. We also got to see some advance trailers of upcoming movies and heard the results of various contests from the weekend. Finally, the convention ended with a wonderful performance from J-pop singer, Kumiko Sato. That's basically the long and short of my weekend at Sakura Con. After Closing Ceremonies, wouldn't you know it? My fever comes back! I head straight for home and straight for bed. Sick and broke. What a way to end the con and four years at the Sea-Tac Hilton! Well, lots of bad luck plagued me this weekend, but I still managed to have a good time. Hopefully next year at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center will be a more enjoyable experience with the bigger venue, more guests, and hopefully better scheduling. And hopefully I don't get sick again either. See you all next year!
