Day 1 - Inside the Exhibitor Hall
|
I finally get into the Exhibitor Hall. Lots of cool stuff to buy everywhere, and surprisingly, it wasn't
nearly as crowded as I thought it would be. But then, it was Friday so that could easily change.
There was a fair amount of cosplayers running around inside so I thought I'd snap more pictures here
too, as well as get some early shopping done.
Here's a shot of the gigantic Hellsing Ultimate display. As you can see, there's a big,
steaming coffin in the middle. Maybe Seras Victoria was inside?
This was Funimation's booth. It had this awesome life-sized plastic model of Shin-Chan standing
on the table. I had to take a picture. I love Crayon Shin-Chan, at least what little I've seen
on Adult Swim. I hope to see more of this series.
Here's one of many Pikachu girls I'd seen over the weekend. Looks like the next game series,
Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, is really getting people hyped up enough to start cosplaying
as Pokémon characters again because there were definitely way more Pokémon cosplayers this year than
in the last few years. Not since... well... ten years ago when the anime first came out.
It's the hat guy from Bleach. Nope, don't know his name off the top of my head.
It's the Chibi Tuxedo Mask again, and looks like he got dumped.
Here's Umi from Magic Knights Rayearth. Kinda rare to see someone cosplaying MKR these days.
Still, very well done. Another excellent costume.
On the left is "Saxy" from the Sakura Con Message Boards. I didn't recognize her at first because
she's usually known for cosplaying as Alita from Battle Angel Alita. Still, she looked great as whatever
character she was cosplaying as. Here she is with a friend who I also don't know whom she's cosplaying as.
Chun-Li and a Moogle. Sounds like a TV crime-fighting duo. Someone make this happen!
On the way out, I found a Jill Valentine from Resident Evil. No zombies though. Dang.

Day 1 - More Unfortunate Free Time
|
I finally got out of the Exhibitor's Hall and I still had time to kill until I'd have to line up for
the Anime Music Video contest. So, I peeked around and I snapped more pictures.
Here's "IscariotXIII" from the Sakura Con Message Boards dressed as Naked Snake from the Metal
Gear Solid games. Pretty cool costume. I'd see more of him and other MGS characters
throughout the weekend.
This was easily one of my favorite costumes I'd seen this weekend. It was Robo from the much-beloved
SNES game, Chrono Trigger. This was a really elaborate piece and really came out well.
Very awesome and nostalgic. Loved the attention to detail on the costume.
At this point, I was kinda hangin' around and ran into one of my friends, Vincent. He was doing lots
of photographing this weekend too. These two cosplayers happened to come along and he was taking their
pictures and had them walk into this spot of light. I snapped this photo. No idea who these two were
cosplaying as, unfortunately.
This was a neat one. It's the female trainer from Pokémon FireRed/LeafGreen. I'd never
seen anybody cosplay as her before and I thought this was really well done.
Not really sure who these two are from. Nice costumes though.
Don't know who these two are either. Again, nice costumes.
Another Pokémon cosplayer. This one is going for a Marill motif.
I really have no idea who she's cosplaying as, but... uh... day-um!
Here's Phoenix Wright again, and this time, he's found his rival, Edgeworth.
I missed out on her panel, but I found Monica Rial signing autographs in the hallway.
I got her autograph and a photo too. She's a real sweetie. I love her voices.
Among many other characters, she played Chiyo-Chan in Azumanga Daioh. She also
does ADR scripting for various ADV projects.
Here's an obligatory Star Wars cosplayer. This one's Boba Fett. Or is it Jango? I'm not
a Star Wars expert.
Here is one excellent Advent Children Tifa cosplayer. Her face is amazingly close to
the real Tifa. Very cool.
It's Naota and Haruko from FLCL! The Haruko is especially well done.
Here's Big Chris again, this time dressed as Mojo Jojo from Powerpuff Girls. Not many know
this yet, but Powerpuff Girls has been turned into a magical girl anime in Japan. Hopefully we'll
get to see it brought stateside. Chris has really outdone himself with this awesome Mojo costume. Here
he is ordering the guy from Jin-Roh to battle.
At this point, I decided I'd take a little break and head back to my hotel room for a spell. This is
a nice shot outside of the convention center. It's a truly surreal experience to see cosplayers out
on the streets of Seattle. You can tell the guy on the far left has no idea what the hell is going on.
