Day 2 - Back Into the Exhibitor's Hall
|
Here I am in the Exhibitor's Hall again. I was originally gonna go to the Hellsing Ultimate panel
but unfortunately, I got there too late because the line had gotten so long that they had to cut it off
because there was no longer any room in the panel. Blah.
So, I decided to go to the Exhibitor's Hall again and see if I could find some of the stuff my sister
wanted me to find and clear off my shopping list. More pics inside.
Here's Eureka from Eureka Seven. Actually, there were quite a few Eureka Seven cosplayers,
which is pretty new to the con. There certainly weren't any last year. Actually, now that I remember,
Eureka Seven premiered on Adult Swim the weekend of Sakura Con '06. I remember this because
I set my VCR to record it but it ran out of tape and missed the pilot. I have since watched it.
No idea who she is, although she did look familiar...
This is a very good Aeris (or Aerith, for you purists) from Final Fantasy VII. Nice
job on the staff.
This is one of my friends, Melissa, who owns a costume design shop called
Faerie Fingers. She's been
going to the con since the beginning, but I met her back in the
Anime Discovery Project,
a college anime club I used to frequent. You may have seen her in previous years at the con in her
famous Belldandy costume. She's an expert cosplayer and you've probably seen her creations worn at
anime cons.
Here's a really awesome James of Team Rocket from the Pokémon anime. I had actually
photographed him on Thursday, but my picture didn't come out very well. Fortunately, I caught him
again in the Exhibitor's Hall.
Here's Chopper the reindeer and Luffy, both from One Piece. Incidentally, there were showing
uncut One Piece, but I missed out on it. I've always wanted to see the uncut version. At least
Funimation's finally got the rights wrestled away from 4Kids and they can do the show up right.
It's like DBZ all over again. Maybe they'll get to redub the earlier episodes too. But I digress.
This is me with my friends Theo (on the right) and his wife Tarra (with the harp). They've both been
going to the con as well and are friends with Melissa too. I also met them at the ADP. They're a
really cute couple. It's a treat seeing them cosplay together.
I think the girl on the left is cosplaying from an anime called Chobits. Never seen it.
It's Genma and boy-type Ranma from Ranma½. Again, nice to see Ranma½ fandom still
going on. I need to catch up on the manga one of these days. I've got the first dozen or so volumes,
but in the old left-to-right format.
Now here's a really good Princess Zelda. I saw about four or five different Princess Zeldas over the
weekend. She's probably one of the better ones.
On my way out from the Exhibitor's Hall, I ran into Zolo, the triple swordsman from One Piece.
I think he actually has three real swords on him.

Day 2 - Saturday Afternoon, Killing Time
|
By this time, I'd gotten tired of wandering the Exhibitor's Hall, but I still had some time to kill so
I walked the area near registration and took more photos. Between the registration line and the area
towards the escalator to the lower floors, there's tons of cosplayers milling about.
It's Kei and Yuri of Dirty Pair. I think they were surprised that I recognized their characters.
It's kind of an old anime so I was myself surprised to see them cosplaying as Dirty Pair,
not to mention that they did a really good job of it too.
Here we have some Super Mario cosplayers - Super Mario, Princess Peach, and Fire Mario. The
Princess Peach is especially well done. I wish I'd gotten those mushrooms. They were selling them
in the Exhibitor's Hall. Fortunately, one of the booths carrying them is local so I can get one
any time.
Here's a group cosplaying from Eureka Seven. They're really good too. I forget the guy on the
left; he's the photograher guy. Then you have Renton and Eureka. And finally Anemone on the right.
Really well done for all of them.
This was a pretty cool setup of a mock ramen cart, which was used as a giant prop for Naruto
characters to crowd around. Here we have Naruto himself, who is a huge ramen nut. This Naruto
was really well done, and is even about the right age too.
Here's a pair of Chobits cosplayers with the Princess Peach from earlier squeezed into the middle.
Here's a couple friends of mine that I've been seeing at the con every year for the past six years now.
It's become an annual tradition to photograph them at least once every Sakura Con weekend. Here they are
cosplaying as characters from Fushigi Yugi. On the left is Carmen as Nuriko, one of their friends
dressed as Tasuki, and April playing Miaka in her priestess outfit. One of the other girls from
their group, Haley, couldn't make it to the con this year. Hopefully they'll all be back together
next time.
Here's another one of the miriad of Fullmetal Alchemist cosplayers. From left to right, Roy
Mustang, Rose, and Edward. And in front is some weird chibi wild take version of Ed.
Another Ranma½ cosplayer! Here we have Shampoo and even Mousse in duck form, complete with
Coke-bottle glasses. Too bad the picture came out kinda blurry.
