Day 2 - Saturday Night Cosplay, Part 1
|
At last! Cosplay begins! Again, I've been saying this for years, but I really need a new camera.
My camera has no zoom. Fortunately, I scored really good seats this year. However, the lights kinda
made my photos look all washed out. But, for the sake of the people who were actually there, I'm
still posting these. You can kinda make out what they look like, right?
Poor Chris. While everyone was getting seated, I caught Big Chris taking a quick snooze. He's
a con volunteer and has been doing this for the past few years. He needed the break.
Here's a shot of the crowd that night. The guy in purple in front is a photographer from
A Fan's View, an excellent website
for cosplay reports from cons around the country. Want more Sakura Con '07 photos? Go there.
Here's a Bleach cosplay sketch. Totally forgot what it was about.
These two are doing a dance routine to The Prince of Tennis. There were quite a few Tennis
cosplayers. Kinda cool 'cause it's not as mainstream. I watch it regularly on Toonami. It's such
an unreal series about tennis.
This is a weird little Guilty Gear sketch where two of the characters are having a dance off
and the other cosplayers rate them.
This is a dance routine with Resident Evil characters "getting down with the sickness".
This sketch was based off the ramblings of a ninja. But what I was really marveling at was the
awesome Rahxephon mecha cosplayer on the far left.
Here's a slightly "better" shot of the Rahxephon.
This was a neat little sketch where Fullmetal Alchemist characters jump into other anime
worlds via Super Mario Bros. pipes.
In this part, Ed had caught up with Roy Mustang, disguised as Tuxedo Mask, who is seen here trying to
flirt with Sailor Mercury and Sailor Mars.
Vic Mignogna had snuck his way up to the front and was visibly enthralled with the FMA sketch.
This was a really awesome song/dance routine where DiGi Charat characters danced and
lip-synched to that one DiGi Charat techno song about partying.
Here was the end of the routine. I'm still kicking myself for missing out on getting a good
up-close photo of these girls. Their costumes were excellent, and the routine was well
choreographed.
This was a weird little sketch were the Ronin Warriors save the day against a disgruntled
rescuee by letting her take away the green warrior and having her way with him.
This was a sketch where they parody The Godfather, but with anime characters.
Here's a sketch about the Turks from Final Fantasy VII where Rufus sends them to find an
object, wherin they pull off lots of bad jokes on the way.
Another shot of the Turks.
This was a cool little sketch where a group of cosplayers are wandering around a con. The answer
to all their problems was having Scar from Fullmetal Alchemist punish them all with his right
hand. Other characters included was Quagmire from Family Guy, Cartman (in a kimono) from South Park, and Milk-chan from
Super Milk-chan. The pre-recorded dialogue was funny. They used sound clips from South Park
for Cartman's dialogue. Whoever the girl was that did Milk-chan was totally dead on, both in costume
and voice. Regretably, I missed getting a good photo of her.
This was a cool little Final Fantasy VII sketch where Cloud and Zack are in a battle, and they
discuss the nuances of Materia.
At this point, they encounter Sephiroth.
They do a summon and the get "Sexy-Jutsu" Naruto. Victory!
