At this point, I had to go take down my Art Show display and lug it over to the hotel with the rest
of my stuff. Fortunately, it didn't take too long since my stuff fit into one bag. It's all about
pre-planning. I headed right back to the convention center when I finished.
This girl has a huge gun. No idea who she is.
This is easily right up there with odd sights at the convention. People, cosplaying as food. Oh,
and one marching band nerd. If someone knows what's going on, please let me know.
Here's the Anemone again from the Eureka Seven cosplay group I ran into Saturday afternoon.
Here's another great Advent Children Tifa.
Here's Alucard fighting that priest with the blades, both from Hellsing. The Alucard is
especially well done.
I think these guys are from Death Note.
Here's another really great Aerith from Final Fantasy VII.
This was a really cool group dressed up from The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures.
All four colors of Link and Princess Zelda, and an extra Blue Link! Awesome.
I have no idea who she is, but she had awesome animal-leg stilts.
It's that chimera guy from Fullmetal Alchemist! As you can see, it's a two-man costume.
At this point, I was heading upstairs from the Exhibitor's Hall to check out the action on the sixth
floor and saw these two posing a mock scuffle. No idea who they are.
I caught the tail end of Toshifumi Yoshida's "Voice Acting for Dummies" panel. He's responsible for
many of Viz's dubs, specifically, Ranma½ and Inuyasha. Ranma½ is especially
important for me because it was my first real anime, as opposed to not knowing Star Blazers and
Robotech were anime. This was my first anime knowing that it was anime. I wish I'd
seen the whole panel. He was still nice enough to give an autograph and a quick photo.
Here's Big Chris again, this time dressed as the buff girl from Project A-Ko. Don't know the
girl on the right. Big Chris is awesome.
Here are those female Naruto cosplayers again. Looks like Naruto's gonna get to second base
wish Sasuke. These girls sure love the yaoi.
Ever wondered what it was like being photographed by a crowd? Here's what it looks like. I was bored
while waiting in line for Closing Ceremonies and snapped this.
Those two that were scuffling earlier? Now they're making out.
I think they're cat girls?
It's Buddy Jesus! It probably wasn't on many congoers' minds, but today was actually
Easter Sunday. Nice to see even Jesus digs the anime cons.
It's Rei from Neon Genesis Evangelion! This is actually an especially good Rei. She insisted
on doing a happy Rei pose. Looks good!

Day 3 - Closing Ceremonies
|
Finally, the end of the con... or was it? The Charity Auction was still going on, and it pushed Closing
Ceremonies back over an hour. However, it was pretty entertaining to see people bid and see my
friend, Gabe de los Angeles, play auctioneer. Some of the stuff up for bid was pretty damn cool.
I wish I had the kind of money the bidders were throwing out. Ah, well, it was for charity.
After the auction, Closing Ceremonies finally commenced. Lots of thank-yous and closing remarks. Didn't
win the Mascot Contest again, but I'm not really broken up about it since my art made prominent places
in the con book. All in all, this has been another great convention.
One of the items up for bid was a giant Tetris piece that was floating around all weekend, being
signed by everyone. When they announced that not everyone had signed it yet, the remaining guests of
honor and the audience basically rushed the stage to sign the Tetris piece. My autograph
is right under Toshifumi Yoshida's.
Here's one of the winning bidders claiming his prize, part of which was a hug and kiss from voice
actress Katie Gray. All in the name of charity!
Here were the winners of the Sakura Chibi children's cosplay contest. The Blue Link is there, but the
winner is the girl in front. I forget who she's dressed as, but her routine was signing the original
American opening theme to Pokémon. Her mother was just off to the side, throwing Pokémon dolls onto
the stage as she sang.
Eventually, it was all over. This was the long ride down the escalator from the sixth floor.
...and the long ride down from the fourth floor escalator.
And one last parting shot. Somewhat fitting for the last day. Here's an Advent Children Cloud
standing out in the rain. Such a moody scene!
Well, that's the end of Sakura Con 2007! It was fun while it lasted! Hard to believe I've been doing
this for a decade. Thanks to all the staff for putting together such a great convention over the years.
I'll definitely be back again next year and years to come!
