On this page, I will feature photographs that I've retouched or altered in Adobe Photoshop. In many cases, I will add the original sources for comparison with the new pieces.

This is a photo of my maternal grandmother which my mother had asked me to retouch. First of all tried to make the photo less faded-looking, and less "blue". There were also a lot of yellow spots that I had to erase as well, which required a lot of the stamp tool to fix.

The photo itself was originally a much smaller one (I think it was a 4" x 5") and my mother wanted this photo enlarged. I couldn't really fix the fuzzy quality of it, but I did my best, and my mother was pleased with the results. We now have a nice 8" x 10" copy that I printed out which sits on a cabinet in our dining room.

This is an extremely old photo of my father as a child with his siblings. He's the one on the left in back. The photo itself is extremely small, a wallet-sized one, and it's been through some extreme wear and tear. Because of this, it was really hard to fix this photo. I used a lot of the stamp tools to fix a the "missing" spots. The hardest part was trying to recreate my father's face. I know what he looks like, but it's kinda hard to reimagine his face as a young boy. I did the best I could with the paint tool, but personally, I still am unsatisfied with the results. I may still go back and retouch it some more in the future.

Overall, I think I did pretty good at retouching it and removing some of the scratches. My dad's nose though, still bothers me. At the very least, it's a lot better than the job this local camera place did trying to restore and enlarge it. My dad likes my restoration better.

Here's another wallet-sized photo that I was asked to fix for mother. This is a photo of her and her sister back in the 60s. My mother is the one in pink. It's not too terribly damaged so it was relatively easy to fix. I adjusted the color so it isn't too faded-looking. I also corrected the extreme redness in the photo. Again, using the stamp tool, I erased all the stray spots and scratches on the photo. Couldn't really fix the fuzziness since this is an enlargement from a wallet-size. I'm pretty pleased with the results though.

This was a wallet-sized photo of my late maternal grandfather in his youth. My mother asked me to repair and enlarge it. I fixed the contrast and darkened in the shadows. I couldn't tell if the stuff on the bottom right was smoke or what, but I tried to fix it using stamp tools as best as I could. I personally think it's photo damage, but he has a cigarette in his right hand so it could be smoke. It might even be some sort of weird lens flare. I didn't want to mess with it too much so it could kinda retain its "oldness".

The source I used is actually an enlargement of the original, which I unfortunately did not have access to. My mother just wanted me to make a duplicate of this enlargement, but I was not simply satisfied with that since the enlargement was kinda crappy. So, I scanned it in and adjusted the contrast so it didn't look so faded looking. I wish I'd spent more time on it because looking back on it, I missed a yellow spot on the bottom.

By the way, this is a photo of my maternal grandmother's oldest brother, who we affectionately called "Grandpa" since he was the closest thing to a grandfather I had since both of my actual grandfathers passed away long before my time.
